Jimmy Ga…(clears throat) Jim Garoppolo is graduating to be the next big NFL star. I am ready to stop calling him Jimmy, he has matured into a Jim. Growing up, Tom Brady was called “Tommy”. No one calls him “Tommy” anymore. Playing quarterback in the NFL is a man’s game. We can leave the cute nick names for mom and dad.
With Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers reaching the end of their respected careers, Jim is part of the new class of star NFL quarterbacks. Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, and now enter Jim Garoppolo. On Sunday, Garoppolo passed for a little under 400 yards, completed over 70 percent of his passes and had a QB rating of 106.8, and had no interceptions. Those are big boy numbers. In his last three starts, he is averaging over 300 yards passing and a 98.0 passer rating. He has gotten better with each game. Yes I know, he played against the Bears, Texans and Titans, but you are talking about a really bad roster that has seemingly turned it around. With the quarterback guru Kyle Shanahan, this team is going to blow the doors open in NFC in a couple of years. If you have watched any 49ers game this year they have went out and competed in almost every game. They are very well coached.
This next off-season is going to be huge for the front office. They will most likely pick in the top 5 in the draft, Saquon Barkley would be a massive pick. In 2018 the Niners will have the most salary cap space in the NFL at $115 million, they should make a huge splash in free agency in the off-season.
The emergence of this next star of the NFL is going to change the tides of the leagues landscape. If San Francisco plays their cards right, they can potentially be the next great team.
